We believe that each child is unique, with individual beliefs, interests and ideals that need to be respected and encouraged to foster their Holistic excellence.
At A Little Rei of Sunshine, Riverwood & Peakhurst, we're dedicated to fostering an environment that supports each child's unique growth and development. Guided by the FISH! Philosophy, our core values emphasise the importance of creating a positive impact on all stakeholders – families, children, staff, and the wider community.
Attitude
Choose Your Attitude means taking responsibility for responding to what the day throws at you. Once you are aware that your choice impacts everyone around you, you can ask yourself, “Is my attitude helping my team and the children in my care? Is it helping me to be the educator I want to be?”
Lead by example
‘Lead by Example’. This value is about showing initiative and drive for the centre’s program and for your own lifelong learning journey. This is also about being the change you want to see in others.
Respect
‘Be There’. Being physically and emotionally present for the stakeholders of our centres is a reflection of this respect. It highlights the importance of active supervision, engagement and empathy for the children, the team, and the families and ensuring that the work environment is clean, tidy and aesthetically pleasing.
Originality
‘Play’. This taps into your natural way of being creative, enthusiastic and having fun. Play is the spirit that drives the curious mind and highlights the importance of being involved in play with the children to further understand each child’s interests and strengths.
Support
‘Make Their Day’ Finding simple ways to serve our community in a meaningful, memorable way. It’s about making a positive and valuable contribution to all aspects of our role as early childhood educators.
Where A Little Rei of Sunshine Began
THE STORY FROM OUR DIRECTOR, MARY…
The Sound of Music is what kicked off my love of Early Childhood Education!! I have been passionate about working with children since I first saw the movie at age 5. I help out with children whenever and where ever I could. Baby-sitting family, church service, and eventually nannying, which I did all through high school. I then volunteered at a few childcare services both here and overseas and LOVED IT!
Then in my first year at uni at the ripe old age of 19, I was studying an arts/psych degree and not really loving it. So one morning on the way into uni, over a pie with my dad, we discussed the idea of opening a childcare centre and have never looked back.
That pie was 20 years ago!! I actually owe this entire journey to my dad and his amazing support of my dream – we definitely wouldn’t be where we are without his unconditional love and unfailing support.
Where did our name come from?
Hi! I'm Reimonda but everyone knows me as Rei and my name is where the name of our beautiful centres originated from.
The story of how our centres came to be is a great one and the origin of our name is no exception.
Everything that we do at A Little Rei of Sunshine is family focused and is evident as soon as you walk through the doors.
We invite you to come and pay us a visit and experience our warm, home away from home environment and ethos for yourself!
